Statistics

Statistics is the branch of mathematics that deals with the collection, classification, analysis and interpretation of numerical data, by using mathematical theories of probability. Statistics can interpret large data that are otherwise intelligible to an ordinary observer. Statistics help in making this data regular, and predictable.

There are two branches of statistics:

Descriptive Statistics- Descriptive statistics provide a concise summary of data. It involves organizing, displaying and describing data.

Inferential Statistics- Inferential statistics tries to draw conclusions about a population based on information contained in a sample taken from the population.
