Artificial Intelligence
It is the science and engineering of making intelligent machines, especially intelligent computer programs to calculate, reason, learn from experience, adapt to new situations and solve complex problems. Artificial Intelligence (AI) is mainly based on disciplines such as Computer Science, Psychology, Linguistics, Mathematics, Biology and Engineering.
Some applications of AI are:
-
Algorithmic Trading: Several large financial institutions use AI systems to make trading decisions, market analysis and data mining.
-
Game Playing: AI plays strategic games such as Chess, Go, Tic-tac-toe etc where the machine can think of a large number of possible positions based on heuristic knowledge.
-
Natural Language Processing: It is the ability of computer programs to understand human speech as spoken/written.
-
Speech Recognition: AI is capable of hearing and comprehending our speeches. It can handle different accents, slang words, different noises.
-
Intelligent Robots: Not all robotics is considered to be part of AI. A robot that is pre-programmed to perform a certain function is considered to be a “dumb” robot. AI methods are applied to develop intelligent robots that help it to learn through experiences and reason about how to respond to complex goals in the real world.
