Prerequisites
This course requires a basic college-level statistics & calculus understanding of descriptive statistics like mean and variance. The concepts covered in this course can be learned without programming knowledge. If you want to analyse the data using Python, the required skills are covered in the “Python for Trading: Basic” free course on Quantra.
After this course you’ll be able to
- Fetch market and pricing data for stocks, stock indices, FX, Crypto and Futures.
- Explain the limitations of free futures continuation data.
- Get stock fundamental data such as income statement, balance sheet and cash flow statement.
- Compute financial ratios such as return on equity, price to earnings ratio and price to book value and analyze the long-term trend in revenue and PE ratio.
- Fetch the tweets by user id or by keyword and get the latest news headline data.
- Resample financial market data to different frequencies such as 15 minutes, 1 hour and 4 hours.
- Perform data quality checks and process data.
- Get the options chain data and options expiry dates.
- Analyze the institutional holding in a company, get corporate action data and dates on which earnings are reported.
- Create a table of the latest macro indicators such as GDP, Inflation, etc.
