Quantra environment is a zero-installation solution to get beginners to start off with coding in Python. While learning you won't have to download or install anything! All the notebooks in the Quantra portal are available for download at the end of each course and they can be run in the local system just the same as they run in the portal. The user can modify/tweak/rework all such code files as per his need. We encourage you to implement different concepts learnt from different learning tracks into your trading strategy to make it more suited to the real-world scenario.

No. We provide you guidance on how to create strategy using different techniques and indicators, but no strategy is plug and play. A lot of effort is required to backtest any strategy, after which we fine-tune the strategy parameters and see the performance on paper trading before we finally implement the live execution of trades.

The IBridgePy package contains two methods, namely data.current and show_real_price method, to fetch real-time data. The data.current method returns the real-time data for the given securities for the specified fields. The show_real_time_price method is used to request real-time quotes of the specified security from Interactive Brokers server.

There are two methods to fetch historical data from Interactive Brokers, namely data.history and request_historical_data. The data.history method returns historical data from the IB servers, which is adjusted for splits but not for dividends. Using request_historical_data fetch data to be adjusted for dividends as well as stock splits.

The use of programming language such as Python not only helps you to achieve this simple task but also able to perform complex tasks such as machine learning. The advantage of a generic language like Python is when you do become serious, you will already have the means to implement what you want. It is a relatively easy language to learn (although difficult to master), with excellent support for advanced tools. More and more brokers are giving API supports in Python. It is a good investment of your time if you see yourself as a serious investor/ trader going forward. That is why some are coming up with new-age online platforms (like Blueshift) - to leverage full advantage of Python without the need to do hard-core software development

There are many different ways to place orders on Interactive brokers through IBridgePy. You can place an order by specifying the number of shares (equities) or contracts (futures), the value of shares, or value of shares in terms of percentage of portfolio value. Along with this, you can also specify the order type such as market order, limit order, stop order or stop-limit order.
