Optical Fiber
Optical fiber refers to the technology of transmission of data using fiber. This is a flexible, transparent fiber which is usually made of glass or plastic. Optical fiber carries more information over longer distances and at a higher bandwidth than conventional metal wires and in general, is not subject to electromagnetic interference. In High-Frequency Trading where every microsecond matters, fast fibre-optic data connections between the systems and stock exchanges, give them a minuscule speed advantage.
