Mode

Mode is the number that occurs most often within a given set of numbers. It is a way of expressing an important value among the other numbers of the series.

Consider the set of numbers below:

3, 2, 8, 8, 16, 16, 16, 16, 25, 25, 32, 40, 50, 56, 56

Value 16 appears the most number of times, i.e. four times. Hence, 16 is the mode. However, it is not essential to have only one mode. A series with two modes is called a bimodal series while one with more than two modes is called multimodal series.
