Cross Connect
Cross Connections are hardware (cables, cords) that allow making a direct connection between separate units of the facilities within a data center. Single data centers or multiple data centers usually maintain the cross connections. Trading exchanges run hundreds of cross connects between servers to maximize the number of trades processed per second thereby reducing latency. The cross connection provides a more consistent and reliable experience as compared to Internet-based connections. They are also a valuable resource that minimizes data loss and promote disaster recovery in case of emergencies.
