Wrong answer and explanation?

one of the other answers says the ant can't fly, so they must go with the surface, first hypothenuse is 2 * (1/2), after this the ant is in the same surface corner, now he has to move +1 to get to the opposite corner, so answer would be ~= 2.4142

am I missing something here? maybe interpretation?

Unfold the cube. It is the same as the distance to go from one corner of a rectangle of size 1*2 to the opposite corner, which is 2.23.
