Using ICICI Direct (SPRING) with BlueShift for Live Trading

Hi everyone,

I had a doubt regarding BlueShift’s integration with brokers. On the BlueShift website, it is mentioned that spring by ICICI Direct is supported for live trading. However, I noticed that BlueShift currently does not provide NSE historical data for backtesting.

My question is:

  • If I have an account with ICICI Direct SPRING, can I directly backtest/automate my strategies and run them live using BlueShift itself?
    OR
  • Do I still need to separately integrate the ICICI Direct API manually and build the trading connection outside of BlueShift? Also is the api syntax for spring similiar to blueshift?

In short:
Is BlueShift fully capable of handling live trading to NSE via ICICI Direct once linked, or will I have to manage broker integration separately through coding?
Also since the spring webpage states that only past 3 year data is available, this would mean the strategy can only be backtested on previous 3 year data right?

Would really appreciate any clarification from someone who has used this setup or knows more about it!

Thanks a lot in advance.

Hi Mihir, on Blueshift, we do support NSE historical data - including futures and options (including stocks options). Try out the NSE and NSE-latest datasets.

ICICIdirect Spring offers a version of Blueshift which you can use on ICICIdirect site itself. No need to come to Blueshift website or integrate ICICIdirect API. The python APIs will be identical as on Blueshift. Note: on ICICI Spring if you create your own algos, you can run it either in one-click mode or contact them for further options.
