Hello there:
I heard that the broker thinkorswim has a scanner particulary useful, where you can scan based on your code… and that there is a community called "scriptstotrade"… wher people share code to be used in this scanner… does anyone here use that??? if you do use it… How useful is that scanner…??
Thanks
Hi Ghery,
While the scanner functionality looks good but I haven't used it specifically. Do let us know your thoughts or first impressions if you have tried it out.
Thanks.
Well , I don't have a think or swin account… so I don't know…
But it would be helpfulif we can use code to search for stocks… we can make certain criteria that for example is not avaiable on finviz… or other scanners
Hi Ghery,
Yes, it is an interesting idea. In fact, we had created a basic screener in the Swing trading strategies course. While it is not the same as what you require, the basic idea is that you can pull the data from yahoo finance and apply screening criteria based on liquidity (volume of trades is more than a specific number). Further, you can apply technical indicators as well on the data, for example, the ADX value is more than 25. This is just a suggestion and not necessarily a recommendation.
