has anybody experienced it before if you have a paid account? would it work ?

There have been some recent changes in the Twitter API. From Twitter's developer website: http://developer.twitter.com/en/docs/twitter-api/getting-started/about-twitter-api#v2-access-leve, we can see that it does not allow pulling tweets under the "Free" plan.
You can upgrade to the "Basic" or "Pro" plan for your requirements, but please read the complete documentation before the same.
