Hi is there an existing sub-group of retail traders within our community who share/discuss trade ideas and trade together on a daily basis?
- intraday or overnight
- across segments: both cash and fno,
- across asset classes: equities, fx etc.
- Both discretionary and algorithmic.
If any such group does exist then is it possible to connect me to someone who can help out.
On the other hand if such a group doesnt exist then I would be more than interested to get something started with interested members who are into retail trading full-time.
Hi Vivin,
We don't have any sub-group within our community that discuss trade ideas on a daily basis.
However, interesting trading scenarios, strategies and quantitative finance concepts are posted on the QuantInsti blog regularly. Please have a look.
Here is an interesting idea, you can create your own research bots that scan social media and provide sentiment analysis of stocks. Please have a look at this Quantra learning track on Sentiment Analysis in Trading
Thank you
Thanks for your prompt response Varun.
May I suggest that we consider starting something along these lines? I understand that our community is for "algo trading" purposes but my belief is that many members here would stand to benefit from such an arrangement. I wouldn't be surpsied if a significant % of retail traders who took up EPAT or Quantra would still be carrying out majority of their trading activity on a discretionary basis.
Executing multiple "statistically sucessful" ideas would help diversify ones earnings. Plus those amongst us who are adept at coding can also help out with automation thus benefiting all in the process.
Not to forget, ideating in a group can help us come up with newer ideas to backtest and deploy.
Is it possible to perhaps send an email out to the alumni community to guage interest? We can see how to go from there.
Hello Vivin,
Thanks for such a great suggestion. As pointed out by you, it would not only keep the users engaged but also help to expand their strategy universe.
We will definitely discuss this with the product team and plan on its implementation.
Thank you
